Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from a GP to see a chiropractor at Meadows Life Chiropractic Health & Wellness Centre?
No, you do not need a GP referral. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners, meaning you can book an appointment directly with us at any time. We also accept Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)/ Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans from your GP.
*Please note that Care Plans must nominate Meadows Life Chiropractic Health & Wellness Centre or any of our chiropractors to be accepted.

Yes! Our Altona Meadows clinic is equipped with HICAPS, allowing you to process on-the-spot private health insurance claiming. If you have private health insurance cover and have Extras Cover that includes Chiropractic, simply bring your physical or digital provider card (on your phone) to your appointment, and you will only need to pay the remaining gap fee.

The Federal Government’s Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP, previously Enhanced Primary Care) can subsidise up to 5 chiropractic visits to a chiropractor within a calendar year. To obtain a CCMP from your GP, you must visit (or have a TeleHealth appointment with) your doctor and request for a CCMP. Without a Chronic Condition Management Plan from your GP, Medicare does not bulk bill Chiropractic visits.

We treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Our Altona Meadows team frequently helps patients find relief from lower back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, shoulder pain, and pregnancy-related discomfort. (see “Conditions We Treat” page)

At Meadows Life Chiropractic Health & Wellness Centre, our chiropractors firstly determine your suitability for Chiropractic care on your first visit by listening to your concerns and conducting a Chiropractic specific examination. If necessary, they will refer for x-rays.

At Meadows Life Chiropractic Health & Wellness Centre, our chiropractors’ priority is to ensure that your condition is suitable to be addressed by Chiropractic care. Depending on their findings during the Initial Consult and the information you shared about your condition, the chiropractor will determine if providing a treatment is appropriate. In short, your chiropractor will decide giving treatment at their discretion.

Not at all. While traditional manual adjustments can cause a gentle joint release sound, Dr. Alfie and Dr. Yvette specialise in tailored care. We offer gentle, low-force techniques utilizing specialized instruments or drop-tables that achieve excellent results completely without any “cracking”. These techniques include: Thompson Drop-piece technique, Activator techniques, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) and cranial techniques.

Yes, we accept TAC and WorkCover patients. Individuals under these two programs need to provide their case number and case manager’s details and our friendly staff will do the rest.
*Please note that a gap payment may be required to make up the difference between our fees and the TAC/WorkCover reimbursement.

Yes, there are plenty of parking options at our Altona Meadows practice. We are located at 31 Central Avenue, right next to the Central Square Shopping Centre.
